What shall I do here?

My first (public) post! I waited until I had an icon, for one thing -- this is a modification of one I had on my LJ -- and for when I actually had something useful to say. Useful being relative, I suppose, but there you go.

I'm debating what to use this account for. I already have an LJ and a wordpress blog -- the former for personal and fannish things, the latter for positivity/happiness thinkythoughts. So what should I use this one for?

For what it's worth -- I know some people crosspost their entries to both LJ and DW. My LJ is now friends-locked, so I don't think I'd want to do that. Honestly, I don't see much of a reason for me to crosspost, anyway. (Not to say it doesn't work for others -- your mileage may vary and all that -- it's just not something I see value in doing myself.) So I'd like to come up with something else to do here.

I have two options I'm currently pondering, though I may come up with more. These are the two:

1) Fannish essays. I have the wordpress blog for real life thinky thoughts, but I sometimes have the urge to express a bit longer thinky thoughts of a fannish nature. Thoughts about shows, books, and occasionally fandom (though I'm not much in fandom).

2) Over on LJ I was tagged for a happiness meme, which is right up my alley. The meme is to post every day for eight days about something that made me happy that day. I'd kinda like to continue doing that even after the meme-designated eight days is up. I could do that here. It may be a bit along the lines of what Gretchen at the happiness project calls a one-sentence journal -- though I like rambling so I'm not sure I could limit myself to a single sentence!

So those are the options I'm currently contemplating. I don't have many people friended (or whatever the proper terminology is) here but I'd welcome thoughts and opinions!

I haven't figured out what to do with my account here either. I have no plans to cross-post, it's just too much trouble for the seven or eight people I know who are here. I'm not going around subscribing to people here either. The two communities I am most active in are both mine, and they aren't going anywhere. I did subscribe to a knitting community here on the off chance I might start knitting again.

Meta sounds good, except why wouldn't you post that at Live Journal and just leave it unflocked? Because of your work?

There's an automatic crossposting tool, I think? But I haven't looked into it.

Obviously I could; thing is that I haven't. Having a place specifically for something makes me more likely to actually do it. I'd probably crosspost them to LJ, as well, I guess.

I have not figured out how to do anything here. I don't know even know what the codes are for a subscriber or a community. I thought I'd wait until they go out of closed beta at least as things seem a little off here to me. I get weird messages when I try to comment and sign in at the same time. "Your log-in cookie has disappeared" or something like that. If commenting is that hard, posting might be worse. Plus. Ohmigod the ugly that is the default journal style. I cannot bear it.

The point of closed beta is partly to work out those kinks, so I'd say report anything you get errors for. If you want. :) As for styles, I've never liked LJ's default, either! They're working on more, and I can give you the link to very step-by-step instructions for porting a mixit theme if you want. Or wait 'til they're out of closed beta so there are more themes available.

I have the link for the mixit import. The directions made my eyes cross. I am apparently too stupid to learn this kind of thing or too impatient. Closed beta ends in a week or so.
I can wait.

YOU COULD DO BOTH! Fannish essays AND happiness meme and it would be ULTRA-COOL.

Ooo, I could! I should! (I should do something with this journal, as I keep forgetting it's here!)
